Former Gogglebox favourite Scarlett Moffatt has issued a stark warning to her followers after she was nearly kidnapped by a stranger.
The reality star, 31, who recently vowed to “normalise boob gaps”, shared a message to her 2.2 million followers after her frightening ordeal.
Scarlett was left shaken and in tears after a stranger tried to kidnap her at a train station on Wednesday night.
She was confronted at the station after revealing live on Instagram that she was on getting a train to London, and she took the opportunity to warn her 2.2 million followers about posting live locations on social media.
Now, the star has returned to her Instagram to share a warning to her fans as she said: “I want to say a massive, massive thank you to everyone as your messages have been overwhelming.
“If I haven’t had a chance to reply, don’t worry I’ve definitely read it. Honestly, I can’t thank you enough and I really hope that if anything good can come out of this, is that we are a bit more wary of what we are posting on social media.
“If you’re out with all the family don’t let people and strangers know that everyone’s out of your house. Be wary of how much personal information you give away on social media.”
She continued: “It’s a really fun place to be, social media and I love sharing things the same as you do but I think if you are going out for a meal or something, take pictures, take videos, and once you’re safely back at home then post pictures.”
Scarlett shared her ordeal with followers after the horrifying event as she took to social media to recount the terrifying encounter at Kings Cross Station in London with a man who said he had been "waiting for her" and told her: "You're coming home with me."
She told fans: "Right, I'm going to do this video, and not for attention or anything like that.
"I'm doing this so that people realise the importance of using social media and not always posting where you are.
"I stupidly, naively posted on Instagram saying, 'Off to London on the train,' and when I got into King's Cross station, there was a guy there.
"This guy came at me and was saying, 'Scarlett, I've been waiting for you. You're coming home with me.' And then I said, 'Oh no, thank you' and walked off.
"And then he followed me and was like, 'Scarlett, Scarlett, you're coming home with me. I'm taking you home with me'."
