Strictly star teases gossip about show stint as ‘there’s stuff I’m not saying’

Strictly: Jayde Adams tearful as she reflects on the show

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Jayde Adams has looked back at her time on the BBC show. However, the 38-year-old comedian has simultaneously remained tight-lipped about what exactly happened when she participated in the dance competition.

Back in 2022 she became the fourth celebrity to exit the show, alongside her professional partner Karen Hauer. She was partnered in a same sex couple which is something she put down to “sisterhood”.

Nearly a year on, she has opened up about her stint on the programme. Although she has kept some memories close to her chest.

While speaking on the show Imposter Syndrome, presented by Rob Adcock, she revealed that one day she will tell all. When asked if there was anything she wouldn’t share, she confessed “for sure”.

Jayde admitted: “Yeah, there is stuff I’m not saying for sure”. Despite her secrecy, the TV star promised she would “say it on stage in my own way, I’m not saying it here”.

The comedian credited the show for their representation of body image.

It made her happy that they allowed women to go on the show with different bodies than those that are most frequently seen in the media.

She said: “Watching me look incredibly glamorous and be big with a same sex-partner on a show where all of that stuff’s never really happened before.”

Jayde said that she was grateful to the BBC show for allowing her to express herself.

Adding: “I mean, I will always be grateful for being on that show and for them allowing me to just do it the way I wanted to do it.”

Speaking of criticism women face, she said that they are “constantly reminded all the time, if they’re not perfect, if they’re not there and they’re not that”.

“And actually, it’s becoming really old-fashioned to have views about the way people look now,” Jayde added.

The star explained the shift in perception is “because of all this representation on television”.

Ever since her appearance on the show, Jayde has been credited with being a role model.

“I b****y love it. I love it’s just fantastic. To now be part of a rebellion is incredible”.

“And I will …this is I want to be part of that rebellion and I have to be.”

Alongside Strictly, she discussed her life, career and success – while questioning if she deserved it.

The star said: “I suppose it’s a feeling where you want to do something, but you find yourself in that thing and you’re like, Oh my God, I shouldn’t be here.”
