81 confirmed cases of coronavirus in India; 64 are Indians, 17 foreigners: Health ministry

The union healthy ministry on Friday released the latest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India which now stands at 81, out of which, 64 are India whereas 16 Italians and one Canadian.

India has so far evacuated 1,031 from countries such as Maldives, United States of America, Madagascar and China, the health ministry said during a press conference.

“Contact tracing of these cases is being actively pursued. So far, this has led to identification of more than 4000 contacts who have been put under surveillance,” said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry.

According to health ministry, the government has brought 42,296 passengers under community surveillance.

“Out of 42,296 passengers, 2,559 were symptomatic and 522 hospitalized including 17 foreign nationals,” the health ministry said.
