Bharosa Centre, a hope for aggrieved women

Over 350 marital dispute cases addressed by it in the last one year

Since its inception in 2018, the Bharosa Centre in Cyberabad Commissionerate has addressed over 350 marital dispute cases, said Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar.

He congratulated Alcoholic Anonymous, an alcohol de-addiction centre, and other support groups for partnering with the Bharosa Centre in bringing families together.

During an event here on Wednesday, Mr. Sajjanar said Bharosa is intended to support women affected by violence in private and public spaces, within the family, community and at the workplace.

Aggrieved women facing any harassment, including sexual and domestic violence, would get integrated assistance by police, medical, legal and prosecution services along with psychotherapeutic counselling apart from relief and rehabilitation as per her requirements, he said.

“So far, 124 families have been reunited by the Bharosa Centre and 355 domestic violence cases reported in Cyberabad Commissionerate were dealt with during this period,” Mr. Sajjanar said.

Apart from direct petitions, women in distress also approach police through various social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter.
