Five-year-old dies in relief centre

A five-year-old boy, who was suffering from high fever, died at a relief centre in Sureban village, near Ramdurg, in Belagavi district on Tuesday.

Abdul Mullanavar had been suffering from fever for a few days. His family was residing at the relief centre in the APMC yard in Sureban for over a month.

The officials shifted his family to the centre after floodwaters entered their village of Hire Hampiholi in August.

Deputy Commissioner S.B. Bommanahalli has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, who visited Sureban village on Tuesday, handed over a cheque of ₹5 lakh to the family of the boy.

A case has been registered in Ramdurg police station.
