Helmets given to beat constables in Tiruchi

Beat constables carrying out regular patrolling on two-wheelers were given helmets by City Police officials here on Thursday.

Commissioner of Police A. Amalraj handed over the helmets to the constables at a function organised at Armed Reserve Ground in the presence of senior police officers.

The objective was to ensure their personnel safety since they were engaged in carrying out regular rounds on two-wheelers and to be a role-model for public in helmet rule adherence, a police press release said.

A total of 200 constables were engaged in the beat system. The Commissioner of Police also handed over ‘Beat Books’ to the constables. Helmets were also provided to sub-inspectors attached to the traffic wing and to constables riding two-wheelers for them.

Managing director of Kauvery Hospital S. Manivannan took part in the function, the release said.
