‘India needs environment for educational ecosystem to flourish’

“We can be the educational hub for Asia and Africa if India can build world-class universities,” said Raghuram G. Rajan, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and Advisor, Governing Council & Academic Council, Krea University.

Speaking at an interaction with the students and faculty at the School of Interwoven Arts and Sciences (SIAS) and IFMR Graduate School of Business at Krea University Campus on Tuesday, Mr Rajan said that there were thousands of students who would like to learn closer to home.

“What the country needs is to create an environment where an educational ecosystem can flourish. We also need an atmosphere where young graduating students are motivated to create new businesses rather than just relying on corporate jobs,” he said.

Stating that students of today have great challenges ahead of the, which are born out of an extremely fast-paced and complex world, he said that the leaders of tomorrow will be highly adaptable individuals who are purpose-driven with a strong moral compass.

“There is no shortage of talent in India, what we need is to create an ecosystem that provides high-quality education to all irrespective of their social and economic status,” he added.
