Jagan gets first setback from High Court

AP CM YS Jagan is adamant on power purchase agreements (PPA) signed with renewable energy producers. This row went to the High Court now. The AP top court has put a stay on the review motion moved by AP CM. This PPA is worth over Rs 30,000 crore.

About 40 companies have jointly filed a petition in the High Court on the G.O.63 which was issued by AP government. Accepting the petition, the court has put a stay for four weeks and also asked the government to file a counter. The court also suspended the letter written by APSPDCL to Consultative Committee to renegotiate the terms.

The companies in their petition claimed that once the agreement is made, Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has no right to review the terms. Renowned advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued on behalf of the companies against the AP government.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled on August 22nd.
