Kerala lady killed in Palestinian Rocket Strike in Israel

A 31 years old woman named Soumya Santhosh from Kerala, who had been working in Israel as a housemaid, killed on Tuesday allegedly in a Palestinian rocket strike from Gaza. According to the latest report, the rocket fell on the residence of  Keralites Soumya Santhosh in Ashkelon when she was talking to her hubby Santhosh, who is in Kerala, over video call in the evening time.

The lady Soumya Santhosh  hailed from Keerithodu,  Idukki district, and she  had been working as a housemaid in Israel for the last 7 years. Soumya worked as a caregiver attending to an old lady at a home in the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon. Ashkelon, which borders the Gaza Strip, has come under the massive fire from  Palestinian militants.

Santhosh’ brother Saji said that his brother heard a huge sound during the video call and suddenly the phone got disconnected. Later  they  immediately contacted fellow Malayalees people who were working there. Thus  Santhosh came to know about the incident.

The  Congress Kerala leader Mani C Kappan condemned this incident and in a Facebook post,  the newly elected MLA who is representing Pala seat in the Kerala Assembly, said that  number of Keralites    are working in Israel and they are living in fear.
