Rawat stuns Advani, makes final of the World 6-Red championship

He will take on Muhammad of Pakistan, who got past Thet Min Lin of Myanmar 5-4

India’s Laxman Rawat made the final of the World 6-Red championship surprising tournament favourite Pankaj Advani 5-4 in the semifinals on Friday. Rawat won 8-77, 40-2, 21-34, 24-28, 73 (73)-8, 47-14, 44-0, 27-39, 36-26.

He will take on Muhammad of Pakistan, who got past Thet Min Lin of Myanmar 5-4.

After alternate frame wins, Advani took lead of 3-1 but then Laxman compiled clearance break of 73 to level again. Laxman managed to secure next two frames too, Advani once again was back in the the match after winning 8th frame on pink ball.

In the decider, Laxman struggled after obtaining initial lead and recovered till the last black. They both tightened the rope but a loose shot by Advani allowed Laxman to pot the last black to win the match.

Amee in final

In the women’s final, former Asian champion Amee Kamani will take on Nutcharat Wongharuthai of Thailand for the title.

In the semifinal, Amee knocked out former World champion Ng On Yee of Hong Kong 4-1. Nutcharat won the deciding frame against current World junior champion Yulu Bai of China 4-3.
