Seek probe into Kaleshwaram project: Bhatti

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that he will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and seek investigation into the ‘corruption’ in all the irrigation projects in the State.

At a press conference here, he said that the state BJP leaders should do the same rather than attacking the Congress to show their sincerity, and to prove that TRS and BJP were not political friends. He said the unconditional support of the TRS to the BJP on all the Bills in Parliament was a clear indication of their friendship.

Mr. Vikramarka said BJP State president K Laxman had now realised that the Kaleshwaram project was a huge ‘scam’ and so were other projects while the Congress has been saying so ever since long they were re-designed. He should seek an investigation by the Central government on all the redesigned projects in Telangana if the BJP was sincere.

Reiterating the party’s previous allegations, Mr. Vikramarka said all the tenders for the Kaleshwaram project were approved with the help of a person close to the government. Similarly, the ₹ 55,000 crore Mission Bhagiratha project too was handled by the same individual, he said without revealing the name.

In all the tenders the same three groups participated and the works were given to them only. It looked like the tenders were designed in the same office, he said and alleged that one family was ‘looting’ the state resources.

The state exchequer was burdened in the pumping of Kaleshwaram water, he said arguing that the water pumped to Yellampalli reservoir was much less than the water let out to the downstream. When the option of getting the water through gravity the government chose to lift the water for making money, he alleged.
