Stop politics on Ayodhya issue: Muslim group

Politics on this issue should stop, says okkoota

Mohammed Arif, member of the Sauharda Samiti, said on Saturday that it accepted the historic Ayodhya verdict.

Speaking to presspersons here, he said all Hindus and Muslims should live in harmony.

Another member of the samiti, Ansar Ahmed, said Muslims should not feel sad that the Supreme Court verdict had not gone in their favour. Instead, they should feel happy that a dispute, which had been there for centuries, had got resolved.

Okkoota’s response

Speaking separately to presspersons, Mohammed Yaseen Malpe, president of Udupi Zilla Muslim Okkoota, said the Ayodhya dispute was a local issue, which became a national one due to politics.

Only a national-level organisation, such as the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board, could comment on this verdict. They have made their views clear to the media. They have already said that they respected the verdict. “We reiterate this view. This is not an issue on which one could express views casually,” he said.

The life of people was more important than a temple or mosque. A lot of people lost their lives in this dispute. This should stop now. Politics on this issue should also stop, Mr. Malpe said.
