She has admitted to her involvement in all six murders: SIT chief

Jolly Shaju, the prime suspect in the Koodathayi murder case, was reportedly in touch with a lawyer at Thamarassery to defend herself better in the case and confidently face possible interrogation. The District Crime Branch sources said on the first day of interrogation Jolly responded the way she was taught by the lawyer.

Apart from this, Jolly had tried her best to foil the Crime Branch move to exhume the bodies of the six victims and conduct a forensic examination.

Even before the arrest, Jolly had been quizzed by the Crime Branch squad multiple times to get details about the deaths of the victims and her account about the incidents.

Deliberate attempts

The squad had noticed her deliberate attempts to portray the deaths as natural due to heart ailments, the sources said.

District Police Chief (Kozhikode Rural) K.G. Simon, who heads the SIT, told reporters on Sunday that the prime accused had already admitted to her involvement in all the six murders and the SIT would be able to submit the necessary evidence in the court.

As part of the continuing probe, the SIT has decided to record the statement of Rojo Thomas, the complainant in the case, who is now abroad. The police sources said he had already been asked to appear before the District Police Chief (Kozhikode Rural).

Shaju to be questioned

On Monday, the investigation team would once again interrogate Shaju Zachariyas, husband of the prime accused, at the office of the District Police Chief (Kozhikode rural). Crime Branch sources said he was served a notice in this regard on Sunday.
