RRR: Controversy erupts over Jr. NTR wearing a Muslim skullcap; tribal community threatens to ‘dig SS Rajamouli’s grave’

If you thought that the entire country is gung-ho after the rambunctious response to Jr. NTR’s first look as Komaram Bheem in Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR, then think again. Apparently, the Adilabad tribal community is up in arms over the actor being depicted as a Muslin, with his character wearing an Islamic skullcap being the major bone of contention. Komaram Bheem is regarded as a hero to the Adilabad tribals, and they believe that his depiction is an “insult” to their hero who led an uprising against the last Nizam. Subsequently, they’ve threated to file a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act if certain scenes aren’t deleted with immediate effect.

“Komaram Bheem fought against the Nizam and his Razakar army. He took up arms against Nizam soldiers until his last breath. Why has Rajamouli shown Komaram Bheem wearing a Muslim skull cap? This has hurt the sentiments of thousands of adivasis. Such blatant falsehood in the name of history. If he wants to make a movie, let him show the belly buttons of women. Why insult our God? If Rajamouli fails to remove such portrayal of Komaram Bheem, we will dig his grave,” warned the aadivasis in a statement to Telugu 360.

”For us, Komaram Bheem is our deity. We even pray to him and observe Aswayuja Powrnami to commemorate his life. Portraying Komaram Bheem as a Muslim is an affront to his family and the entire Gond tribe. Rajamouli is spreading falsehood. He has not visited any of the villages in Adilabad, did not speak to the aadivasis before making the movie. Rajamouli, you remove the scene, or you will face our wrath,” further warned the tribals.

We wonder how SS Rajamouli and the team of RRR will respond to this?
