Watch: Chris Gayle appeals funnily with crying face, leaves umpire in splits

Chris Gayle appealed in a desperate way to umpire Ryan Hendricks in the final ball of his only over in Jozi Stars' away clash against Paarl Rocks in the Mzansi Super League.

Chris Gayle proved that he doesn’t always need a bat to entertain the crowd, as the West Indies’ T20 veteran pretended to cry after on-field umpire withheld his LBW appeal in a Mzansi Super League match.

Gayle’s Jozi Stars were up against Paarl Rocks in an away match on last Friday, where the Windies batsman’s team fell to the home side, as the Rocks won by four wickets. Although the 40-year-old could only score a run in the first innings, he opened the bowling for the Stars to bowl his only over of the match, yielding an economical five runs.

In the final ball of his over, his off-spinning delivery hit Paarl Rocks’ opening batsman Henry David’s pads to which Chris Gayle appealed in a desperate way to umpire Ryan Hendricks. When the umpire did not support him, the self-acclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ pretended to cry which made the former burst into laughter.

After setting a paltry target of 130, defending champions Jozi Stars eventually lost the match to Paarl Rocks and then went on to lose another against Tshwane Spartans, making it their sixth consecutive loss in the ongoing edition.

Gayle said farewell to Mzansi Super League after the clash against the Spartans though as he ranted on how he doesn’t get respect and always gets labelled as “the burden for the team”. He leaves with 101 runs from six innings, 54 of which came on Sunday which was his 400th T20 game.
