Naagin 5’s Sharad Malhotra on playing Veer in the show: I could never see myself playing the quintessential bad boy on-screen

Naagin 5 has been receiving a good response. The story of the show is quite interesting and the twists in the story have kept the audience intrigued by the show. Adi Naagin, Naag, and Cheel’s story has been loved by the audience. Hina Khan, Mohit Malhotra, and Dheeraj Dhoopar have given the show a brilliant start. Surbhi Chandna, Mohit Sehgal, and Sharad Malhotra carried it forward really well and Bani, Jay, and Veer have become our favourites. Nobody had even thought that Ekta Kapoor will cast Surbhi Chandna, Mohit Sehgal, and Sharad Malhotra. Sharad Malhotra had done all positive roles earlier on television and hence he as Veer was a surprise for fans. However, we is excellent as Veer. His chemistry with Surbhi Chandna is loved and it won’t be wrong to say that they are the most stylish pair on-screen. Sharad Malhotra spoke about playing a grey shade character in the show in an interview with Tellychakkar.

He said, “People have seen me play a good guy, the very adarsh sanskaari beta (ideal son), the warrior, the romantic guy, but I was taken by surprise when Ekta Kapoor ma’am offered me this role, and hats off to her vision.” He admitted that he could not imagine himself playing a negative role. Sharad shared, “I could never see myself playing the quintessential bad boy on-screen. But he (Veer Singhania, the reincarnation of Cheel) is not a bad boy. He is not black or white, he is grey. That’s where I get to play around a lot. So, I get to have my nuances, body language, voice modulation, and all of that can be twisted but not in a dark way. He is basically from a family of evil people, while he is not that evil. Somewhere he has that streak of niceness in him, and I guess that’s what makes him more interesting and exciting.”

Sharad Malhotra had recently tested positive for Coronavirus and did not shoot for a few weeks. However, he is now back in the show and fans are happy to see him as Veeranshu Singhania.
