We Have an Official First Look at James Gunn and John Cena\u2019s Peacemaker<\/em> Series

The Suicide Squad spoilers follow.

The first official image from the Peacemaker series has been revealed, just a few days after The Suicide Squad‘s post-credits scene was released in full to set the scene.

Marvel-turned-DCEU director James Gunn is back on board to lead the upcoming series, which will premiere on HBO Max in January, and has already promised fans that it will be “the most incredible TV show” they’ll ever see.

Now that’s quite the claim.

Following the post-credits scene reveal, where we discover that John Cena’s character has survived both Bloodsport’s attack and the Jötunheim reactor crush, Entertainment Weekly has secured an image of Peacemaker back in action.

Our very first look at the Peacemaker series includes an alive and well Christopher Smith, Steve Agee’s Economos, and Jennifer Holland’s Harcourt, as well as debuts for Chukwudi Iwuji, Danielle Brooks, and Freddie Stroma, who play Murn, Adebayo, and Vigilante.

Speaking to EW about how The Suicide Squad‘s post-credits scene leads us to Peacemaker, James Gunn admitted that he usually “hates” those kind of set-ups.

“I did exactly the thing I hate when other filmmakers do [it], but I did it!” he joked. “I’ll have to live with the repercussions, which is the most incredible TV show people will ever see.”

As for a possible second season, Gunn is keeping the door well and truly open. “I would like to do a [second] season,” the filmmaker said. “They just have to tell me that they want to do it.”
